Own horse holidays
With its rolling hills, Jurassic coast and a mass of bridleways, Dorset is arguably England’s most picturesque and discoverable UK county. From the stunning coast to the Purbeck hills to the rolling fields inland, it’s a great county for equestrian exploration. So how do you go about arranging a horseback holiday; do you hire a horse and be limited to the local area? There is a better way…
Don’t hire a horse, bring your own!
Own horse holidays are the perfect way to see new places with the comfort and reassurance of your own trusted mount. At Brook Farm Bed and Breakfast, we provide stabling for your horse and an unforgettable B&B experience for riders wishing to explore this wonderful area. We also provide off road parking for own horse box close to the stables.
Horse Riding in Dorset
Running for over 60 miles from Tollard Royal to Lyme Regis, perhaps the most spectacular horse riding trail in Dorset is the Wessex Ridgeway. Part of the Great Ridgeway, this ancient trading route takes the high ground for the majority of the way, affording sweeping views of Dorset’s picturesque scenery. You can find more details here.
Owned and run by the National Trust, Studland beach and the surrounding heathland make for a great day’s hacking. And if you want to venture further afield, the hilltop rides on Ballard Down towards The Old Harry Rocks, and Nine Barrow Down to historic Corfe Castle are not to be missed. Horse box parking is available at Knoll Beach. More details here.
